Vacation???
by Tyra Turner

First of all I'm not sure how to act, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. All I need is to hear the Hawaiian music and taste the sweetness of a mia tai. I've mentally prepared myself for 2 full weeks of rest. My body and mind are well overdue. Chad and I are pretty active vacationers, so I'm sure I'll sneak in a way to burn some calories. Before we hit the tropics we decided to briefly visit Ko Phi Phi an island southwest of Phuket and the hustling city of Bangkok.
Ko Phi Phi was a peaceful tiny island with amazing scenery.
You arrive by fairy and if you can't walk to your hotel then you take a taxi. Oops did I say taxi? I meant water taxi. No cars on this island! Chad and I spent the first evening testing the margaritas and fresh fish, then drooled on ourselves during our third $10 massage. We were told the average daily wage was $3 so we always tried to tip three times as much. The Thai people were very appreciative as were we for the amazing treatment. We spent the next day on a group tour that included 6 stops. We snorkeled above a shark reef and visited lots of small discrete beaches.
Chad got chased down by a couple of varmints on Monkey Beach. He thought he was being smooth trying to smuggle in some bananas. We also relaxed on Maya Bay where the movie "The Beach" was filmed. Sorry, no Leonardo Decaprio sightings.
Bangkok was exhausting. It was just another affirmation
that we are beach people. The hustle and bustle seemed endless. The traffic would literally leave LA's in the dust. We took a tour of the Grand Palace and went to visit the Reclining Bhudda. Both were well worth the cost of the tour guide. I had to wear my beach sarong around my legs and my jacket in the Palace. There is a strict dress code that I wasn't aware of, but I promise you I wasn't the only one dressed funny.
I can hear the bells now. Ok, no bells, but for sure a beautiful blushing bride. It's Nov. 11 and we are both excited to see Rach and Sean finally tie the knot. The attire was casual, sun dresses for the girls and Hawaiian shirts for the boys. Most of us parked our flip flops at the door.
The ceremony was simple and intimate. Family and friends were close and the atmosphere was inviting. This was a highlight of our vacation. Next year people will have to get used to the new and improved team of Scott-Turner.
All Smiles,
Tyra Turner
