Part 3 of my 8 Week Adventure
by Tyra Turner

Week #5 Berlin, Germany
Finish DNQ (did not qualify)
Why no pictures?????? Easy, we didn’t qualify so we were training our booties off all week. We were pretty devastated after being the #1 seed in the qualifier and not earning a main draw berth. We lost to a Brazilian team that came out of no where. They ended up taking a couple top 5 finishes as well a podium finish. This is the same team that in Russia beat Boss/Ross squashing their Olympic Dreams. It’s safe to say they blindsided us both. Stinking Brazil, how many gnarly teams do you have???
Week #6 Paris, France
Finish 2nd
There’s a shining light. After a pretty disappointing week, Rach and I bounced back. We decided to kick a little China booty. We beat China’s top team twice in this event capturing the Silver metal. Yes, this was our second one this season. Felt pretty good to improve from our bronze metal last year. I think it’s the white sand. It reminds me of my home in Florida minus the huge Eiffel Tower.
This event again demonstrated the athletic prowess of the USA women. We had an entire USA podium. Misty and Kerri with the gold, Rach and I with the silver, and Nicole and Ey with the bronze. We are friends as well as each others greatest competition. I truly believe we could bring home 3 metals in the Olympics if more than 2 teams could go. We currently have 4 women’s teams ranked in the top 7 in the world. It’s safe to say WE ROCK!

Week #7 Stavanger, Norway
Finish 9th
The tournament by the sea. This event is famous for its cold and rainy weather. It just so happens to be one of the main reasons our bags were so over packed. We had to be prepared with our beanies, sweats, jackets and tights. The only thing worse than playing beach volleyball in the freezing cold, is playing with out the proper gear. In the years past we have played with almost every bit of skin covered warming up by jogging up and down the training room halls. Of course Rach and I were all over the weather.com praying for some sunshine. Not so much…. As soon as the aircrafts doors opened, the cold air filled the cabin. It was horrible. Then as soon as we had collected our bags, the rain started. The skies were dark and we thought our good luck tournament weather was for sure over. Every event so far had been perfect. Amazingly enough, this year in Norway we were able to wear swimsuits. The first day of the qualifier had a tiny drizzle and then the rest of the days were filled with sunshine. Those weather people never know what they’re talking about…
So basically we carried all that cold weather gear for nothing…
Also I had to pay an extra $348 bucks for my bag weighing over whatever stupid KLM’s weight is. I had to pay for every kilo it was over. I will never fly out of the star alliance again? This is why I’m a United girl.
